Hi, I am Heather!
About me, the nutshell version…
Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Friend, Scrapbooker, Photographer, & Jesus Freak. Now, the elaborated version…
I am the oldest of 3 girls. Yep, growing up in a house full of girls is well… interesting! My Dad was a photography buff, even with a darkroom in our house, I suppose one of us was bound to become a photographer eventually. One of my first jobs (I’ve only had 4 in my life) was working for Sears Portrait Studios. I actually worked for them for 8 years. Then I moved up to working at Kiddie Kandids for a couple years. (this was in the days of FILM people!). But eventually I quit working and became a full time stay at home Mom. I married my high school sweetheart, at age 18. Yes, it was too young, and yes it was a GREAT decision! (going on 17 years now) We lived the military life for a few years (stationed in Hawaii, hey, I did what I had to do for my country). Then we settled down at home (Idaho) where I have lived almost my entire life. We currently reside in Kuna, Idaho. I have 4 children. Ranging in ages from 13-1. Our house is pretty much a zoo! My husband says he’s going for a basketball team, I say your crazy. Yes, I am done (and I really do mean it this time). I have always loved anything crafty, (I get that from my Mom). So when my oldest was born naturally I turned to the biggest craze, scrapbooking. I can’t even tell you how much time and money I spent on that hobby (seriously I can’t, my husband would kill me if he knew!) Although I still enjoy playing with paper and glue from time to time, I rarely seem to have the time for it these days. I will say that I truly have made the most amazing and precious friendships through that hobby, and I will treasure that forever. I decided to get more serious about my photography business about 6 years ago. I bought my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel xt (after swearing that *I* would never go digital) And I jumped in with both feet. I have learned a lot, A LOT in these past 6 years. (and yes, I did eventually upgrade from that Rebel, but I’m a Canon girl through and through!) And I am still learning and growing. Thats the beauty of photography no mater how accomplished or how experienced you are there is always new challenges around the corner. Never a dull moment. As I’m sure you know, from my business name, I am a Christian. I once told a friend that I want my tombstone to say “Jesus Freak” I love it one of my favorite songs of all time. (DC Talk) It is important to me that my business glorifies God in every way possible. It is only because of the talents he has blessed me with that I am the photographer I am. And I hope to be able to pass the blessing along to you with beautiful portraits to cherish. Because we are all made in His image, perfect, beautiful & filled with love. |
